Short Description and Vessel Walk Through
This 9' x 27' Floating Cabin is on a 1969 Drift-R-Cruz 12' x 39' Fiberglass Hull and includes a 12' x 31' Dock with a 10' 8'' x 20' Canopy and a 12' x 24' 9'' Dock with a 3' x 4' Storage Shed. Both of the docks are constructed out of lumber on top of styrofoam flotation (the flotation must be replaced by 2031).
The interior of the cabin features sleeping for 5 - 7 persons with 4 berths - at the entry to the cabin you'll find a large convertible bench that makes a 5' x 6' berth with 360 degrees of natural lighting and 6' 4'' of headroom. A 24'' Vizio 720p HDTV is viewable from this area of the vessel and storage is available under the bench seating. The original helm for the Drift-R-Cruz houseboat is in the starboard corner and provides some nostalgia for the re-purposed houseboat turned Floating Cabin. One of the two Window Air Conditioning units is mounted just above the helm as well. Under-foot there's a storage hatch below the vinyl sheet flooring that houses the 10 gallon water heater, lake water pump with 2 filters and an Ultra Violet Light Sterilizer capable of making potable water on-demand.
Heading towards the stern on the starboard side you'll step down into the split level cabin and find a full size futon directly to port with a 32'' Samsung LED HDTV mounted mid-ship and facing to the stern. To port you'll find the convertible dinette that serves as your inside dining table by day and a wide twin size berth (43'' x 73'') by night.
Moving to stern you'll enter the galley area with a 4-burner gas oven/range, cabinet storage above and below the counter top with a single stainless sink, toaster, coffee maker, and 9.8cu/ft electric refrigerator/freezer all along the starboard side. A microwave is located on the port side wall just forward of the head compartment entrance in an integrated storage area with several shelves.
Directly to port from the galley sink is the entry into the head compartment which is equipped with a vanity sink and mirrored medicine cabinet to stern, an electric head, and a walk-in shower to the bow side of the head/bathroom.
Moving farther towards the stern you'll notice a privacy curtain that splits the rear stateroom area from the galley. Here you'll find the second window air conditioning unit mounted on the stern wall with a 6-drawer plastic storage chest below and a full size bed to the port side that has a 32'' Sony LCD HDTV mounted at the foot of the bed.
Returning to the main entry door towards the bow and stepping outside on the starboard side there's a covered patio at the bow.
Stepping down onto the attached dock you'll find the canopy secured over a vinyl fenced in patio with a flat-iron gas griddle conveniently located near the entry to the cabin. Stepping through the fenced in patio you transition to the rear float that features a pair of lounge chairs, a swim boarding ladder, a storage shed, storage locker, a pellet grill/smoker, additional lake water pump with an outside shower fitted and some artificial grass covering the lumber decking.
On the stern of the Drift-R-Cruz houseboat the engine compartment now serves as additional storage space shared with a mix of homemade ballast to counter-weight the area that once housed twin inboard/outboard engines. The transoms have been sealed off and the bilge area is dry. A 50 gallon polypropylene waste holding tank is now located in the port side engine compartment as well. At the port side rail edge of the houseboat you'll find a basketball hoop mounted for some dockside entertainment for the youngsters.
The ladder to the roof of the houseboat has been removed and the roof has been coated with a Valspar StormCoat acrylic exterior paint. The roof appears to be solid and sealed.
This mooring location is transferable and connected to shore power, though the required electrical inspection has not been completed and is lacking the required GFP marina-guard device (due by 10/2029).
This Floating Cabin provides a low budget entry point to a weekend or summer retreat on Norris Lake, though additional expenses will be incurred in time in order to meet the Floating Cabin regulations. The docks will need to be rebuilt with new encapsulated flotation, grey water collection added, the electrical requirement met, and a buyer can use this as footprint towards a larger Floating Cabin down the road or use it as it is.
